Coaching at New Fosseway School: A Truly Rewarding Experience

July 2026

Coaching at New Fosseway School over the past three terms has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my coaching career says Knowle LTCs Head Coach Dave Willford.

Working with children with a wide range of additional needs has taught me so much, and I've genuinely loved every session. Seeing the excitement, pride and confidence on the pupils' faces when they achieve something -whether it's a first successful shot or simply having the confidence to try - is a feeling that's hard to replicate.

The support from the school has played a huge part in making the sessions such a success. The excellent one-to-one provision and the commitment of the teaching assistants, who actively participate in every lesson, help create an inclusive environment where every pupil has the opportunity to achieve and enjoy being active.

If you've ever considered coaching in a SEND school, I can't recommend it highly enough. It's great fun, incredibly rewarding, and has helped me grow as both a coach and a person.
